Chiropractic Stories

I’ve been going to a Chiropractor ever since I was a little girl. If it wasn’t for a Chiropractor my mother would be in bad shape. I think my Chiropractic Doctor is wonderful, he enjoys helping people. I was recently in a car accident in which I hurt my neck, back and left hip. After one visit my hip was not hurting. Now we are working on the neck and back. Chiropractors are great, especially if you have back or neck problems. I am very thankful for my Chiropractor and his associates.   Tonya Collier, Birmingham, Alabama   I started chiropractic two years ago. I had daily hip and back pain. After only two or three adjustments the hip pain was forgotten about. X-rays showed how off my hips were, crooked my spine was and that my neck curve was almost straight. My last x-ray showed straight hips and the back almost correct. My head still tips to the left but we’re working on that. My neck curve is almost where it should be. Without the help...

History of Chiropractic

D.D. Palmer, the Father of Modern Chiropractic   The history of chiropractic care dates back over 5,000 years ago to ancient China and Greece. The manipulation and the maneuvering of the lower extremities to ease low back pain has been going on long before it became a profession.     In 1895, the practice of spinal manipulation started in the United States when Daniel David Palmer, more commonly known as D.D. Palmer, discovered that a slight misalignment of the vertebrae alters its nerve flow, thus causing 95% of all diseases; the rest is caused by dislocated joints apart from the vertebral column.   The True Cause of Diseases – Palmer’s Chiropractic Theory Palmer had an interest in health philosophies and finding the true causes of diseases. He practiced Magnetic Healing, a cross between massage and meridian therapy, which is based on the concepts of...

Chiropractic Techniques

The chiropractic spinal adjustment is the predominant technique used by chiropractors. To find subluxations in specific areas of dysfunction, chiropractors use touch or palpation, active motion consisting of stretching and bending, and passive movement. Using a Physical Maneuver, the chiropractor will stretch a specific joint gently, right beyond the normal range of motion.   The Chiropractic Physical Maneuver Sometimes, this adjustment will create an audible and painless click. The sound is a result of gas moving rapidly into the space between the joints that were moved from the chiropractic adjustment. Regardless of whether or not a sound is heard, the adjustment has taken place. Patients usually feel immediate pain relief and an increased range of motion. Any soreness from the adjustment should end instantly.   The Chiropractic Nonforce Technique Another technique used by some chiropractors is the Nonforce Technique, which...
